How to make it

about 15 minutesmedium

  1. Cut out the rectangle. Colour it green if you like.
  2. Fold the top left corner diagonally to the right side and unfold. Do the same with the top right corner. You'll now see a cross at the top.
  3. Turn the paper over. Fold the top edge down to the bottom of the cross and unfold: the fold goes right through the middle of the cross.
  4. Turn it back. Push the sides in at that fold and let the top drop down. Press flat: there's now a triangle on top.
  5. Fold the two bottom points of the triangle (top layer only) up to the tip: these are the front legs.
  6. Fold the left and right sides of the body to the middle. Tuck them slightly under the triangle.
  7. Fold the bottom edge up to the bottom of the triangle.
  8. Fold the same flap halfway back down so it makes a zigzag: that's the spring.
  9. Turn the frog over and draw on eyes. Press on the back with your finger, let go quickly … and hop, it jumps!

Ordinary printer paper works; with slightly thicker paper (120 gsm) it jumps further.
